Find out why a top-ten mortgage lender with a proprietary loan origination system (LOS) needed to convert from a legacy document platform.
How long have you been in the industry and what brought you to it? I’ve been practicing law for 28 years (yikes!) with the first 16 years being in corporate law. I had the opportunity to move to the mortgage industry with an in house position for a servicing company and have been in the mortgage industry ever since.
Tell us a little about your role as Director of National Mortgage Practice Group - Propel and Sandler Law Group Of Counsel? I manage/head the team that ensures the documents generated by our software comply with federal and state laws and regulations. We keep a close eye on state and federal regulatory changes, as well as updates to federal agency guidelines and requirements to ensure our documents remain up to date and are modified timely.
In your role, what motivates you each day? The realization that my work has a direct impact on the success of the company.
What inspires you most about the company? I work with an amazing group of people that are genuinely dedicated to our clients. We truly work as a team and I know I can count on their support, wisdom and insight whenever I need it.
What has been one of the most exciting projects you’ve worked on? I was one of two attorneys that laid the groundwork for what is now our RegCheck compliance software. We set forth all of the federal and state loan specific tests typically required by investors and worked with a great software team to convert legal requirements into software. It has been so rewarding to see the product we helped create come to fruition.
What do you find unique about working at Asurity? Everyone is approachable and willing to help. People are always willing to go the extra mile, even if a task is outside their job description.
What is something about you that most don’t know? I play the drums and the bass and picked both up in the last few years. It’s never too late to become a rocker!
Where is the farthest you have traveled? A trip to Singapore and China.
